Athletes, especially high level athletes often have played their sport as the sole form of exercise. They train, train, and train. However, they forget to hit the gym; the weight room. This ends up creating athletes who are very skilled at their sport, but don't have any foundation.

Now you’re probably thinking: what is the problem with this?
As a trainer, I see this all the time and all this sport specific training creates weak and unbelievably unbalanced athletes. When athletes are imbalanced in strength and in particular find themselves asymmetrical, the amount of devastating injuries explode through the roof.

I am writing this series with the purpose of saving so many athletes from small injuries to career ending, and to help them avoid ending up on the operation table.

This article goes beyond just the athletic world. When I am working with clients of the general public or just walking around, I can visibly see so many issues that will likely lead to some form of injury. I know people don’t like to hear this and the average person thinks they are better then the next in regards to fitness and health, but as logic has shown us, we can’t all be better than our neighbour.

Over the next several days, I am going to cover the following topics. So be sure to check in every day at 8pm pacific.

Topics:

  • FMS Testing
  • Flexibility and Mobility Testing
  • Hyper Mobility
  • Postural Analysis
  • Then the fun stuff, how to correct the innumerable problems.
