The 5 Principles to a great body Part 2



As noted in part 1 the insane importance of nutrition in body composition. Since, this is the most important aspect let’s begin this series by looking at why it is so important.


It is nearly impossible to out train a bad diet; unless you are spending 8 hours a day in the gym (which will lead to all kinds of other problems). ... Proper training + proper nutrition+ proper life style= optimal results, they act as a powerful drug



The first issue we must approach is calorie intake. The amounts of calories you eat are important. If your energy intake is greater than your energy output you will store the excess energy as fat. However, I don’t feel it is necessary to count your calories. Rather, it is beneficial to figure out your estimated calorie expenditure. Many people are significantly under eating and have slowed their metabolism down like crazy.


If that is the case then why are so many people overweight......?


Well most people eat so many high glycemic foods (potato, white bread, sugar, etc) that they are constantly spiking their blood sugar levels. When your blood sugar spikes rapidly your pancreas goes into overtime and produces high levels of insulin in order for all your blood sugar to be used for energy. This insulin surge tells our body that plenty of energy is readily available and that it should stop burning fat and start storing it. Basically, this means that the more high glycemic carbs you eat the better chance you have of being overweight.


When one eats lower glycemic foods the body won’t be forced to store fat even when the calorie intake is less then energy input. General rule of thumb is that it is difficult to eat too much healthy food. Rather, you will generally find yourself eating more than before and still losing weight.


Away to help ensure you stick to this, is to right down what you are eating. This helps because people don’t want to write down that bag of cookies or pop they want to drink.
